UNC football investigating academic impropriety

Less than two weeks before the season opener, North Carolina, announced on Thursday that the investigation into the football program may include academic violations.
"We'll find out what happened, and we will do, what can we do to make it happen again to hold, and we will not let it determine this error, this university and what we stand," said Chancellor Holden Thorp At a news conference Thursday.
Allegations center on a former instructor in writing papers for players. As a result of the investigation, the degradation of North Carolina, nine players, the scout team, including players who are part of the first NCAA investigation of this program.
ESPN college football reporter Joe Schad reports that the players involved are beginners Marvin Austin, Bruce Carter and Robert Quinn. Quinn and Austin both SN pre-season All-ACC team and Quinn was a First Team All-American called SN. Schad added that he did not expect that the school runs all the players to investigate the NCAA suspension.
School officials said they could not on individual players or how many players are involved because of the ongoing NCAA investigation into the comments.
"The possibility of the review will go beyond the beginning of the season," athletic director Dick Baddour said. He added that any players involved in the investigation did not play until they are deleted. The Tar Heels open the season against LSU on September 4 in Atlanta. Coach Butch Davis said that on Monday, "we are preparing with the players that we would be expected, began to play in the situation at the beginning of the season."
Latest revelation would present a new turn in the problem of off-field football program.
NCAA has alleged illegal contact between agents and UNC players and if any illegal acceptance of gifts or donations. Austin, Greg Little and UNC receiver other players had been interviewed by the NCAA. South Carolina tight end Wesly also asked Saunders.
UNC interviews conducted in July and NCAA officials returned to Chapel Hill for a second round of interviews this month.
InsideCarolina.com reports that the NCAA requested phone and financial releases and an SMS form printed by the players during the last year.
Austin and Little has been practicing with the second team unit, Tar Heels.
